Tripura traces 3,641 of 3,829 women and girls reported missing: CM

Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha, who also holds the home portfolio, said 3,829 women and girls had been reported missing in the state over the past three years.“Of those reported missing, 3,641 have been traced or recovered, leaving 188 still unaccounted for,” Saha said in the assembly while responding to queries from CPM MLA Sudip Sarkar and TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma.Saha said the missing persons included 3,194 women aged 18 and above and 635 girls below the age of 18.Efforts are continuing to locate those still missing, with police conducting searches and surveillance at railway stations, bus stands, hospitals, hotels and other crowded areas.He said information about the missing individuals was being publicised through newspapers, local cable television and social media platforms. The details have also been uploaded to the CCTNS, Bharatpol and Vatsalya portals to widen the search.Police are also engaging with family members, relatives, friends and witnesses, while analysing call records, subscriber details, CCTV footage and bank transactions as part of the search.Intelligence inputs and coordination with neighbouring police stations, districts and states, as well as the BSF, are also being used to trace those still missing.District anti-human trafficking units are holding regular review meetings with sub-divisional police officers and police station officers to monitor the cases.
