Tripura court grants police custody for 8 Bangladeshi nationals

Agartala: A local court sent eight Bangladeshi nationals, apprehended on Sunday evening for allegedly entering the state illegally and attempting to depart from Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, to police custody on Monday.The police reported that the operation was initiated following an intelligence tip-off suggesting that four Bangladeshi nationals intended to enter Tripura and fly out from the airport. Law enforcement increased surveillance, and four suspects were arrested. Questioning the initial detainees led to the detention of another four individuals from a locality near the airport.All eight arrested planned to travel to a southern state via Kolkata. They were produced before the court, where police sought permission for custodial interrogation.Police hinted that this case might be connected to human trafficking or illegal immigration.
