Gurgaon: A 26-year-old grocery shop owner suffered severe head injuries after an unidentified speeding vehicle hit his moped near Sector 37 late on May 21 and fled the spot.The victim, Laxman Mandal, a native of Bihar who runs a grocery shop in Anjana Colony, has remained unconscious since the accident and is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.According to a complaint filed by his cousin Shankar Kumar at Sector 10A police station, Laxman had left around 11.30 pm on his TVS moped to bring food from Sector 37. While returning near Plot No. 368, an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into his two-wheeler, throwing him onto the road.“The unknown vehicle driver was driving at high speed and negligently. After causing the accident, he fled from the spot,” the complainant stated in the FIR.Shankar said he rushed to the spot after receiving information and took his cousin to Govt Hospital, Sector 10, where doctors provided initial treatment before referring him to a higher medical centre due to the severity of his injuries. He was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital.Police said the medico-legal report prepared at the hospital documented three major injuries. A case was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) of the BNS, and police are examining CCTV footage to identify the offending vehicle.In another case, Prashant, a 22-year-old electrician from Jharsa, remains critical after his motorcycle crashed into a car allegedly parked without warning indicators on NH-48 near Narsinghpur around 1 am on Sunday.According to his father Subhash Singh, Prashant was returning from IMT Manesar when the accident occurred. Police found the Tata electric vehicle parked on the roadside and the damaged motorcycle nearby.Medical examination recorded five blunt-force injuries, including deep wounds on the forehead and neck. Sector 37 police registered an FIR under Sections 285, 125(a) and 324(4) of the BNS and initiated an investigation.
