TMC pick threatens case against Malviya over edited video

Murshidabad: Alleging that BJP shared an edited excerpt of a midnight outburst at the Jangipur strong room — regarding CCTV visibility and an alleged blackout of LCD screens — Trinamool’s Sagardighi candidate Bayron Biswas has threatened a case against BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya, who also shared the video.Later in the night, Trinamool filed a complaint with the ECThe party claimed he posted a 27-second edited clip from a longer 5.28-minute video, taking TMC candidate Bayron Biswas’ interview out of context. The edited video clip showed Biswas claiming that not only he in Sagardighi, but Amirul Islam in Farakka and Jakir Hossain in Jangipur, would also lose. Biswas’s anger was triggered by reports from party workers that the CCTV feed displayed on an external LCD screen had gone black twice during the night, allegedly for 17 and 20 minutes. In a video statement later, Biswas said: “I was hyper on Thursday night and emotionally oversaid something. There is no disputing the fact that Trinamool will win 200-plus seats in Bengal. I will also file a case against Amit Malviya for sharing an edited video.”Biswas’s comments came days after Trinamool Birbhum neta Anubrata Mondal had alleged that an edited video of him had been shared by BJP.Malviya referenced Mondal’s video in a post and said: “In an epic admission, after TMC neta Anubrata Mondal said the party could hardly win 15–16 seats in the first phase of elections, TMC’s Sagardighi candidate Bayron Biswas has now declared that he is going to lose. He also listed the names of TMC candidates (including sitting MLAs) who are likely to lose.”
