Mumbai: A tiger cub at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) succumbed to Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) on April 16, said a press release. It was one of five cubs born to tigress Srivalli in October last year. Officials said FIP is a rare viral disease for which there is no treatment. The other four cubs are under veterinary supervision and are doing well. The park authorities have increased biosecurity measures, daily disinfection of all animal enclosures, besides thermal sterilisation of all enclosure walls using fire gun technology to eliminate viral pathogens. tnn
