Mumbai: The owner of a jewellery-making company based out of Charkop has lodged a complaint against three guards employed at his company for stealing gold bangles worth Rs 5.28 crore. Charkop Police have registered an FIR and are looking for the trio.The 63-year-old complainant runs his company at Hindustan Naka in Charkop out of a two-storeyed structure. The company takes orders and makes gold jewellery accordingly. Around 30 to 32 people are employed at the company. Three watchmen were also hired — one posted on each floor. They were Mohammad Safir, Vikas and Shahbaaz Gujjar.The complainant told the police that 22-carat gold bangles weighing 3,176 gm and worth Rs 5.2 crore were placed in a box at his company. On May 14, around 8.10 pm, the complainant received a message on WhatsApp from Safir. The guard said he was quitting the job as he wasn’t being paid enough. The complainant tried to call Safir, but his phone was switched off.The complainant then called his manager and asked him to visit the company to talk to Safir. But when the manager reached the premises, all three guards vanished. The box containing the bangles was also not found.The complainant then contacted the Charkop police and lodged a complaint. He told the police that Safir hailed from Jammu and Kashmir.
