Gurgaon: A 54-year-old woman and her son (33) were killed after an SUV collided with their motorcycle in the Nuh district on Tuesday evening. As the impact of the collision threw both riders onto the road, they suffered severe injuries and died before medical help could arrive.Police said the accused — driver of the Mahindra Thar — fled the spot after the accident that took place near Leharwadi village in the Punhana area.A relative of the deceased — Rehana and Vakeel, residents of Alampur village in Rajasthan’s Deeg district — told police that on May 12, the family visited its relatives in Malai village in Palwal district’s Hathin. “While returning around 7pm, Vakeel was riding a motorcycle with his mother riding pillion, while I was following them on another motorcycle,” Fakhruddin, the complainant, said.As they reached near Rashid’s hotel in Leharwadi, the black Mahindra Thar allegedly came from the opposite direction at high speed and hit Vakeel’s motorcycle head-on. “The driver was driving rashly. After hitting the motorcycle, he fled the spot with the vehicle,” Fakhruddin said.Police shifted the bodies to the govt hospital in Mandikhera for an autopsy. “Sadar Punhana police registered an FIR under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS against the driver of the Thar bearing registration number HR28M8522,” a police officer said.A relative said the tragedy struck the family just days after a wedding celebration at their home. Villagers said Rehana’s younger son got married on Sunday. “On the second day after the wedding, Vakeel went with his mother on the newly received bike to meet his maternal uncle,” a relative said.
