Hyderabad: Continuing its statewide crackdown on quackery and unauthorised medical practice, the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Tuesday conducted inspections in Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy districts and identified 12 unauthorised clinics and first aid centres allegedly operating illegally.According to TGMC, the teams found several individuals allegedly practising medicine without valid qualifications or authorisation. The unauthorised clinics and first aid centres identified during the drive included Susmitha Health Clinic, Rahim Clinic, Sri Sai Clinic, Rohini First Aid Centre, Sri Durga Clinic, Kurumurthy Clinic, Laxmi Clinic, Abhiram First Aid Centre and other first aid centres operating in the inspected areas.TGMC stated that quackery and unauthorised medical practice pose a serious threat to public health and patient safety. The council said legal action would be initiated against those involved under the provisions of the Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (TMPR) Act and Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.The council further said that inspection reports would be forwarded to the concerned district collectors, district medical and health officers (DMHOs), police authorities and the Drug Control Administration (DCA) for necessary legal and administrative action.
