Ludhiana: A man is under arrest on the charges of desecrating idols and vandalising a 50-year-old temple in the city following an old land dispute.The incident was discovered on Tuesday morning when a devotee arrived to pray and found the idols missing from the small plot. Locals accused two youths from the area of orchestrating the attack to seize the property. Additional deputy commissioner of police Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said the land was reportedly registered to one of the suspects, who had allegedly removed the idols to claim possession of the site.The arrested man is among the two charged under Section 298 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to wounding religious feelings. The search for the accomplices is on. The local outrage highlights the volatile intersection of property rights and religious sentiment.
