New Delhi: Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance as Janmashtami processions may affect traffic movement in several parts of Delhi Friday. Congestion is expected at major venues and along procession routes.Gatherings at ISKCON temple in East of Kailash may congest stretches around Outer Ring Road, Sant Nagar Marg, Nehru Place and adjoining roads, as well as Captain Gaur Marg. In southwest Delhi, a Shree Jagannath Shobha Yatra in Dashrathpuri will also affect traffic between 9am and noon, while arrangements at Laxmi Narain Mandir (Birla Mandir) in New Delhi district are expected to regulate vehicular and pedestrian movement.Shobha Yatra will pass through Dashrathpuri and streets of Palam-Dabri Road before culminating at Dashrathpuri Main Extension. Traffic along the route will be affected.In New Delhi district, elaborate arrangements have been made around Laxmi Narain Mandir, popularly known as Birla Mandir, where a large number of devotees are expected for Janmashtami celebrations.Entry to the main temple will be only through Mandir Marg, which can be accessed from either Kali Bari Marg or Peshwa Road. No vehicular traffic will be allowed on Mandir Marg between the Roundabout at Panchkuian Road, the Roundabout at Park Street on Kali Bari Marg, Udyan Marg and Peshwa Road. Handbags, briefcases, parcels, food packets, cameras, mobile phones and other battery-operated equipment will not be permitted inside the temple complex.Entry to Geeta Bhawan and Vatika will be exclusively through the main temple gates, while all other entry gates to the complex will remain closed. Those heading towards Kali Bari Marg will have to exit through the Vatika-Geeta Bhawan exit lane, while those heading towards Peshwa Road will have to use Gate No. 3 on the Geeta Bhawan side. Gate No. 3 will be for exit only. An assistance booth near the main gate will help visitors.Meanwhile, in northwest Delhi, Janmashtami celebrations at ISKCON Temple and Ramlila Ground in Rohini may affect traffic from 7am on Sept 4 to 1am on Sept 5.According to Delhi Traffic Police, heavy and commercial vehicles will be diverted, while private vehicles may also be regulated depending on traffic conditions. Commuters are advised to avoid Bhagwan Mahavir Marg between Madhuban Chowk and the Helipad on both carriageways. Roads such as KNK Marg and the Karala-Budh Vihar stretch may also be affected by the diversions.
