Hyderabad: Clearing the way for the long-awaited enrolments of law graduates to the Bar Council of Telangana, Telangana high court on Friday ordered an interim stay on a single judge’s Aug 11 order keeping in abeyance the interim enrolment process undertaken by the council’s interim enrolment committee.A division bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin passed these directions while hearing an appeal by Kaluva Bhuvana Srija Reddy, a law graduate who challenged the single judge’s order and sought restoration of the enrolment process, including consideration of her application and those of similarly placed candidates.Appellant’s counsel Baglekar Akash Kumar contended that the blanket stay has directly affected numerous law graduates awaiting enrolment with the Bar Council of Telangana. Bhuvana Srija Reddy, who was not a party to the original writ petition challenging the constitution of interim enrolment committee, further contended that she had completed all formalities, paid the prescribed fee and was scheduled to take the enrolment oath on Aug 13.However, the Aug 11 order directing the committee to keep the entire enrolment process in abeyance had indefinitely postponed her enrolment, Akash Kumar contended. He further argued that the committee was constituted pursuant to a clarification issued by Bar Council of India and comprised advocate general, a Bar Council of India member and chairman of Telangana State Bar Council, in compliance with Advocates Act, 1961.“Several such law graduates had already been enrolled by the same committee in July without any objection or court protection,” said Akash Kumar, while questioning the maintainability of the original petitioner’s challenge and alleging that he had not disclosed whether he had even applied for enrolment.
