Noida: An 18-year-old boy died during treatment after his family found him unconscious in a friend’s room at Shriram Colony in Kulesara village. The family alleged that four friends assaulted and strangled him on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone.The boy’s father, Ranjit Kumar, told the cops that around 3pm on Friday, his son Suraj had been called to visit his friend Azad and his brother Arun. They allegedly took him to their room, where they accused him of stealing a mobile phone and started assaulting him. The brothers subsequently called several of their friends to the room and continued to assault Suraj until he fell unconscious.Around 5 pm, a kid playing near the room saw Suraj lying on the floor and informed his family. The family rushed to the room, but they could not find Azad and Arun there. They allegedly saw marks around Suraj’s throat and called the emergency services.A police team reached the location and took Suraj to the hospital, where he was declared dead during treatment. The cops then took the body into custody and sent it for autopsy. The postmortem was conducted on Saturday evening.Officers said there were no apparent injury marks on the teenager’s body. They inspected the scene and examined the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death. The cops said the exact cause of death would be established through the autopsy report. They said the allegations made by the family are being investigated.
