Pune: Representatives of IT Employees’ Forum have asked for regular meetings of affected techies with labour dept officialsto discuss several issues. The proposal was presented by Federation of IT Employees to state labour minister Akash Fundkar in a meeting with MLA Shankar Jagtap. “We have said that the labour department should conduct studies on IT employees’ issues and hold regular meetings with stakeholders for monitoring, which enables companies to remain compliant,” FITE president Pawanjit Mane said.Recently, 1,000aspirants were duped by job consultants who asked for Rs2 lakhfrom them in return for placements. It has also requested the labour commissioner to formally write to the provident fund (PF) office in Hinjewadi to investigate fraudulent PF entries linked to fake companies and that action to be taken on delinking PF records associated with scam entities after verification.Assistant labour commissioner Nikhil Walke said the Pune department has already asked for data from IT companies in its jurisdiction following an increase in number of complaints. He added that the central govt’s new labour code will enable faster resolution on most of the issues faced by the IT companies as it provides for a tribunal to voice their concerns and clarity in terms of operational flexibility and wages.Earlier, speaking in the assembly session in March, Fundkar had said the govt has initiated action against the fraudulent companies and also taken into account on the issue of layoffs. “The issue of layoffs at IT companies in the past six months should be analysed for possible coercion,” FITE secretary Prashant Pandit said.
