Pune: A 27-year-old software engineer jumped to death from the third floor of a residential building in the Manikbaug area on Thursday afternoon.The brother of the deceased stated in his complaint with the Sinhagad Road police that she ended her life because her husband and her mother-in-law harassed her. The same day, the police registered a case under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the BNS against the husband of the deceased, also a software engineer, his mother and other relatives.An officer from the Sinhagad Road police said the victim and her husband had met while working in a software company. They got married in Nov 2024.“According to the complainant, the victim’s husband, mother-in-law and other relatives used to harass her over petty issues and beat her up at times,” the officer said.He said, frustrated by the harassment, the woman jumped to death.
