Teachers’ body meets Kataria over pending demands

Chandigarh: A teachers’ body has urged UT administrator and Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria to intervene for the early resolution of several pending demands concerning teachers and employees of the Chandigarh administration.The demands were raised during a meeting between representatives of the Joint Action Committee of Teachers, UT Chandigarh, and the administrator at Lok Bhawan. The delegation was led by the committee’s general secretary, Shiv Murat Yadav.Key issues flagged included regularisation of guest and contractual teachers in line with court orders, release of pending dearness allowance (DA) dues, completion of probation for teachers appointed in the 2015 batch along with clearance of their financial benefits, and grant of pending Half Pay Leave (HPL) benefits up to 2022 for regular staff.Yadav apprised the administrator of the pending matters and sought his intervention for their early resolution. The teachers’ body said Kataria assured the delegation that the issues raised would be examined and appropriate action taken.The committee expressed hope that the administration would take an early decision on the demands.
