Gurgaon: A 23-year-old tea vendor was killed on Monday evening after a truck allegedly struck him when he was cycling along the Rampura Chowk-Naurangpur Road beneath the Rampura flyover. The truck was found abandoned at the accident site, and the unidentified driver escaped before police arrived.Police identified the deceased as Dharmendra, a resident of Rampura village, who ran a tea cart near Rampura Chowk. According to the complaint filed by his wife, Kusum, he was on his way to buy vegetables after closing his shop when the accident took place around 6:40 pm. He was rushed to MET Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Police received information about the accident from the hospital around 9 pm. They collected the medico-legal case (MLC) and death summary, photographed the body, and shifted it to the govt hospital mortuary.Based on the complaint, the MLC and the death summary, a case was registered at Kherki Daula police station under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS. Police said efforts are underway to identify and trace the absconding truck driver.In another accident, a 48-year-old man was run over by an unknown speeding vehicle in Sector 90 while he was crossing the road. The deceased, Manoj Singh, was working as a plumbing supervisor.A police officer said, “A speeding car struck him as he was jumping over the divider to get to the other side of the road. The impact was so severe that the bones in his legs broke and bent.”The vehicle remains unknown, and the CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to ascertain the details of the vehicle and to establish the sequence of events that led to the incident. A case was registered at Sector 10A police station against the unknown driver under sections 281 and 106 of the BNS.
