Taxi driver (31) dies in hit-an-run on KMP expressway

Gurgaon: A 31-year-old taxi driver died in a hit-and-run when an unidentified vehicle hit him while he had stopped his car to relieve himself on KMP Expressway near Langra village in Gurgaon on Tuesday night.The deceased, Gurpreet Singh Anand, a resident of Jawahar Colony in Faridabad, worked in a private company alongside driving a taxi.Police said Gurpreet was travelling in his Hyundai Aura on KMP Expressway when he stopped the vehicle near Langra village to urinate. “At around the same time, an unidentified vehicle allegedly approached at a high speed and hit him. Gurpreet sustained serious injuries and died at the spot, while the driver fled,” a police officer said.A police team from Bilaspur police station reached the spot after receiving information from passersby and found his body. He had his Aadhar card on him, which helped the team establish his identity.The body was taken to General Hospital, Sector 10, Gurgaon, for postmortem. Gurpreet’s family was informed about his death.His father approached Bilaspur police and submitted a complaint seeking a case against the unidentified driver. Police registered an FIR under BNS sections related to rash driving or riding on a public way and causing death by negligence.Police are examining the circumstances of the accident and efforts are being made to identify the vehicle and its driver.
