ERODE: Tamil Nadu is seeing a “golden era” under the leadership of chief minister C Joseph Vijay as the govt is working on the lines of a five-year plan with detailed reviews and sector-specific meetings, revenue minister K A Sengottaiyan claimed on Saturday.Speaking to reporters after launching welfare projects worth Rs 12.95 crore at Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, Sengottaiyan said the Vijay govt planned and executed daily welfare initiatives in all departments. He referred to the chief minister’s directive to form a panel of experts to study the impact of El Niño on rainfall patterns, describing it as unprecedented in India. He said the committee would recommend precautionary measures after a detailed analysis.Sengottaiyan reiterated the govt’s commitment to implement a complete liquor ban and said shops near temples and schools were being closed on public demand. “It is a historic achievement, as it is accomplished without protests,” he said. On women’s welfare, he said applications for the women’s rights allowance were being received online and would be scrutinised to ensure that eligible beneficiaries were selected.
