Tamil Nadu forest minister assures Gudalur man-eating tiger capture after attacks

Chennai: Forest minister R V Ranjithkumar on Monday assured the assembly that the tiger suspected of killing two people in Gudalur would be captured soon and shifted to a secure zoo such as the one in Vandalur.Replying to a special call attention motion, Ranjithkumar said three forest teams and three veterinary teams had been deployed to track and capture the tiger, which was suspected to have killed two persons in the past 10 days. An additional veterinary team had also been sent from Madurai, while camera traps were being used to monitor its movement.Ranjithkumar said the previous govt acted after nine deaths, while TVK govt ordered the tiger’s capture after two fatalities. “Soon, it will be captured and shifted to a safe captive place,” he said.
