Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the vigilance wing should focus its attention on individuals who cause a loss to government revenue, adding that a specialised course on cybercrime, tailored for police, must be introduced in the skills university. He also said that he will not tolerate corruption in the police department. The CM held a review meeting with DGP and top police officers and said technological capabilities within the vigilance department must be upgraded.Stating that special de-addiction centres must be established for victims of drug abuse, he said personnel ranging from the rank of sub-inspector (SI) up to non-cadre IPS officers must serve in other wings for a period of two years following their promotion. The chief secretary and the DGP were directed to conduct a study on this matter and submit a report.“A comprehensive report must be prepared following a study on measures to control cybercrime. There is a need to expand the number of forensic centres and data centres. The selection process for deployment in the cyber crime wing should take place during the initial police training phase itself. Coordination among all departments and senior officials must be significantly enhanced,” Revanth said.“The fire department must take proactive measures to prevent fire accidents, rather than merely responding after an incident has occurred,” the CM added.Revanth also called for strict regulation over the installation of flex banners. “The sense of responsibility within the police must increase. Everyone is a stakeholder in this system, and we will not tolerate anyone acting outside of it,” he warned.
