Surat tops state in A1 grades in Class 12 board exams

Surat: Surat once again topped Gujarat in the Class 12 board exams, accounting for 29% of the state’s A1 grade holders in the science stream and 28% in the general stream, reinforcing its position as the state’s leading education hub.In the science stream, 459 students from Surat secured A1 grades, making up 29% of Gujarat’s total 1,576 A1 scorers. This was close to the combined total of 512 A1 students from Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad rural, Rajkot and Vadodara. In the general stream, 2,083 Surat students achieved A1 grades, accounting for 28% of the state’s total 7,446. The combined figure for Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad rural, Rajkot and Vadodara stood at 2,358. A total of 15,798 students from Surat appeared in the science stream and 47,091 in the general stream. The district outperformed the state average, with a pass percentage of 87.26% in science and 93.46% in the general stream, compared with the state averages of 84.33% and 92.71% respectively. Varachha centre recorded the highest science stream pass rate at 94.34%, while the Nanpura centre achieved a 100% pass rate in the general stream. In science, Mitali Bhingaradiya of Aksharjyoti School topped the city with 487 out of 500 marks, followed by Hemal Maiyani of PP Savani School with 486. Granth Jajadiya and Maini Virani of PP Savani School scored 483 and 480 respectively. In the general stream, Akshara Sutariya of Ashadeep School topped Surat with 687 out of 700 marks, followed by Forum Libasiya and Nisha Gadhiya, who scored 685 each.
