After its first trial run on March 29 on the North–South corridor, the Surat Metro conducted another trial run on the East–West corridor on Thursday. As construction work for seven stations on a 6.5km stretch of the corridor has been completed, the trial run was carried out from Bhesan through Ugat Varigruh, Palanpur Road, LP Savani School, Performing Arts Centre and the Adajan area. The East–West corridor will have a total of 18 stations between Bhesan and Saroli. The Surat Metro project is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 12,020 crore and will feature 38 stations across two corridors spanning 40.35km in total.
