Students swap uniforms for World Cup colours at Don Bosco
Don Bosco HS Class IV students designed their own jerseys and displayed sketches a day ahead of the FIFA World Cup final

Panaji: Everything seemed different at Don Bosco High School in the city on Saturday morning.Ditching their regular uniform and instead sporting jerseys of their favourite teams, students were filled with intense energy as they made their affiliation known, ahead of the high-profile FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday.Even teachers were not to be left behind; they too joined the party as the school celebrated the Sports Jersey Day.“We are completely gripped by World Cup fever,” said school supervisor Wellon Braganza. “In our school, we constantly promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. These are the core values we live by.”The event fostered a spirit of unity and shared enthusiasm.“We are encouraging the spirit of the World Cup, as we always believe in pushing our students to participate more in sports. The boys of the fourth standard even designed their own jerseys and proudly displayed sketches of their unique creations,” said teacher and coordinator Carmen. The students’ loyalties were understandably divided. While some were proud of their allegiance to Argentina superstar Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest footballer, others were rooting for Spain who are looking to win only their second FIFA World Cup title.“For Argentina, defeating Spain will be a piece of cake,” said Tyson Sharma.Spain had its own set of supporters at the school. “Spain will deliver in the final,” said Shashwant Katre. “Although Lamine Yamal has not been in top form at the World Cup, he will do an amazing job in the final.”
