Pune: Getting a scribe on time, practicing with them to ensure that they can understand, interpret and write the answers well and in time is a major challenge for candidates with disability, leaving them vulnerable. Riddhi Patil, a visually impaired student studying in Std XII at BMCC College, Pune broke this chain of dependence by writing her own answers, digitally and scoring 86.8% in the HSC board examination.In Std XI, Riddhi started intensive typing practice, and gave all her exams, the internal as well as prelims and finals, using Swalekhan Test, an accessible examination software developed by Uma Badve at Niwant Andh Mukta Vikasalaya. According to the school, Swalekhan Test is a fully accessible digital examination platform created for visually impaired students, enabling them to type their answers independently.
