Ludhiana: A decade-long love marriage ended in a horrific act of domestic violence on Sunday when a man allegedly strangled his wife to death in a village near Machhiwara, later reportedly filming a confession and sending it to a friend.The victim, Rajwinder Kaur, was allegedly killed by her husband, Gurpreet Singh, 11 years after the couple married for love. Police investigators, who claim that the relationship had been fractured by mutual distrust for a prolonged period, also suggest that Gurpreet Singh, a combine harvester operator, suspected his wife of infidelity after seeing her speak to another man on the phone. Conversely, Rajwinder Kaur reportedly held similar suspicions regarding her husband’s character, leading to frequent and volatile domestic disputes.Escalation and Alleged ConfessionThe situation reached a fatal tipping point on Sunday afternoon in the village of Mand Sukhewala. With other members of the family away from the house, an argument between the couple escalated. In a fit of rage, Gurpreet Singh allegedly strangled Rajwinder Kaur to death.Following the killing, the man reportedly engaged in a series of chilling actions. He allegedly recorded a video of himself with the body, “confessing” to the murder and citing his suspicions as the motive, before sending the footage to a friend. The suspect reportedly called the police himself, stating he was on way to the station to surrender. Local sources alleged the suspect may have further desecrated the scene or behaved inappropriately with the body following the crime.Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Preetpal Singh and Machhiwara station house officer (SHO) Pavitar Singh arrived on the scene shortly after the notification to recover the body and begin a forensic sweep. “Preliminary investigations indicate the crime was driven by the husband’s suspicion regarding his wife’s character,” DSP Preetpal Singh said.The couple’s two young children were not present during the incident but are reported to be traumatised. The victim’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and while Gurpreet Singh has been identified as the sole suspect, formal arrest proceedings are currently underway as police register a murder case.Filmed ‘Confession’ Now Digital TrailIn a macabre twist to the investigation, local sources report that Gurpreet Singh didn’t just flee the scene, but documented it. A video sent to a friend allegedly shows the suspect’s admitting to the strangulation while standing over his wife’s body.
