Jaipur: Rajasthan Health Department has decided to recall 10 drug batches after state laboratory tests found them “not of standard quality” during analysis. The step has been taken to prevent public from using them. Officials said action has been initiated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and related rules, with enforcement measures expected against the manufacturers, suppliers or distributors.The failed samples include B-Complex tablets, Calcium and Vitamin D3 formulations, Telmisartan-Amlodipine tablets, Bilastine, Amoxycillin-Clavulanate, Ofloxacin-Ornidazole, Ondansetron injection, Dexamethasone injection and Bupivacaine injection. The medicines are used for vitamin deficiency, bone health, hypertension, allergies, bacterial and protozoal infections, nausea and vomiting, inflammation, allergic reactions, immune-related conditions and local anaesthesia in surgical, obstetric and pain-control procedures.The products were manufactured by firms in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra. The companies include Jackson Laboratories, Salus Pharmaceuticals, Digital Vision, KLM Laboratories, PIL Pharmaceuticals, Gats Biotech, Gnosis Pharmaceuticals, SVP Life Sciences, Oscar Remedies and Themis Medicare.A senior health department official said district drug control officers across Rajasthan have been directed to ensure that the affected batches are removed from availability and are not consumed. Officers have also been instructed to regularly monitor and verify the quality of other batches from the same manufacturers available in the market.The department has directed that necessary checks, inspections and quality assessments be carried out to ensure consistency, safety and compliance before such medicines are accepted, distributed or used. Any deviation or quality concern detected in any batch must be promptly reported and acted upon under the applicable procedures.
