Stalin: TVK indulging in ‘dirty politics’

Chennai: DMK president M K Stalin on Wednesday accused the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam of indulging in “dirty politics” by allegedly engineering support from split AIADMK legislators to survive the trust vote.“Those who came to power promising ‘clean politics’ have now resorted to ‘dirty politics’,” Stalin said, after the confidence motion was won by chief minister C Joseph Vijay with the backing of 144 MLAs including 25 AIADMK legislators. “They (TVK) tried to fish in the troubled waters of a divided AIADMK and purchased its members,” Stalin said.The DMK chief said his party boycotted the confidence vote and staged a walkout in line with his stand that the DMK “will not be an obstacle to the formation or continuation” of the TVK govt. Stalin also said he respected the stand taken by CPI, CPM, IUML and VCK to back the TVK govt as they wanted to ‘prevent President’s Rule in Tamil Nadu.’But TVK has started indulging in activities that betray trust In the govt, he said. “If this is how your govt has started its tenure, how will it finish? Is this a clean force or one that poaches MLAs from other parties,” he asked.
