Gurgaon: A 51-year-old man was held after his car struck an elderly couple while they were out for an evening walk on a service lane in Sector 57, leaving both with grievous injuries.The accused, Ramesh Kailasam, a Gurgaon resident, was questioned by police, who also seized the car involved in the accident.According to police, the incident occurred around 7.30pm on July 24 on the service lane in front of Paragon-57 Mall. The complainant alleged that his parents were out for an evening walk when a speeding car struck them.Both victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital, where they remain under treatment.Based on the complaint, Sector 56 police registered an FIR under the relevant provisions of the BNS and launched an investigation.A police officer said preliminary findings suggested the accident was caused by rash and negligent driving. “The accused was allegedly driving at high speed and hit the elderly couple while they were walking along the service lane,” the officer said.
