Agartala: South Tripura has become the first district in the state to fully implement the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS) across all levels of healthcare facilities, said CM Manik Saha.The district’s healthcare network comprises one district hospital, two sub-divisional hospitals, six community health centres, 20 primary health centres and 149 sub-centres.The state govt aims to complete its comprehensive digital health transformation by Oct 31, with a focus on creating a unified, interoperable and citizen-centric healthcare ecosystem.The announcement was made during a discussion on digital healthcare transformations at Arogya Manthan 2026 at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday. Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte shared the state’s experience with IHMIS and outlined plans to expand digital healthcare.The system aims to move away from paper-based and disconnected services towards an integrated digital framework, connecting citizens, healthcare professionals, facilities, pharmacies, laboratories and health programmes.IHMIS will serve as primary operational system, while the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will provide the interoperability framework for secure health information sharing across systems.Gitte said IHMIS is intended to go beyond digitising hospital registration by creating a comprehensive platform to improve healthcare delivery, streamline information management and supports evidence-based decision-making.
