Varanasi: Turning the heat on Special Operation Group-2, which was formed to crack down on criminal activities like flesh trade, sex racket operations and gambling, police commissioner Mohit Agrawal dissolved the unit and attached many police stations and outposts in charges to police lines. Charge of three police stations was also inter-changed.While reviewing law and order and crime scene at a meeting with officials on Saturday evening, Agrawal issued clear warning to the personnel that they need to either perform or get ready to face music. Dissatisfied with the performance of SOG-2, he ordered to dissolve it with immediate effect and form a new team.Mirzamurad police station in charge Pramod Kumar Pandey and Roadways outpost in charge Gaurav Singh were attached to police lines for their “dissatisfactory” performance. He also reshuffled work force at Cantt, Sigra, Ramnagar and Mirzamurad police stations.Cantt police station in charge Shivakant Mishra was made in charge of Sigra police station, while Sigra police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar Mishra was assigned responsibility of Ramnagar police station. Ramnagar police station in charge Rajkishor Pandey was made in charge of Cantt police station. Gopal Ji Kushwaha from cyber police station was posted to Mirzamurad police station. Vikas Singh, who served as PRO to the police commissioner, was put in charge of the Roadways outpost.The police commissioner said only those officers who perform with excellence and ensure quality investigation, put effective check on crime and provide swift resolution to public grievances will retain the post of station in charge. He directed in charge of police stations to assign newly recruited constables six hours each of indoor and outdoor training daily, imparting practical training in beat duty, public relations and station-level work.During review of traffic management, instructions were given to maintain special surveillance on 10 major routes under the RTC scheme, coordinate with traffic marshals, and take strict action against those riding triple, driving without number plates and driving on the wrong side. Special vigilance was directed to be maintained to bring road accident fatality rate to zero.Additionally, instructions were issued to adopt zero-tolerance policy on crime against women, take action against cow smugglers, thieves, NDPS and cyber criminals under the Gangster Act and Goonda Act, ensure quality disposal of IGRS petitions and maintain regular communication with public representatives and traders.
