‘Slightly easier’ NEET-UG 2026 held smoothly across Telangana | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: NEET-UG 2026 was conducted smoothly across Telangana on Sunday, recording an overall attendance over 97%, according to official data. Out of over 73,000 registered candidates, more than 71,000 appeared for the examination held at 199 centres statewide.Sources said the exam process remained largely incident-free across most districts, with no irregularities in major centres including Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Warangal. However, three isolated incidents were recorded: two in Nalgonda and one in Suryapet.“In Nalgonda, a candidate experienced a medical episode during the exam, resulting in a minor injury that stained the answer sheet with blood. In another instance, a candidate incorrectly filled in key details on the answer booklet, leading to procedural concerns. The third incident in Suryapet involved a biometric verification issue, despite the candidate arriving on time and having all credentials in order,” said a source.Sources said such incidents were handled as per protocol, ensuring minimal disruption to the overall conduct of the examination. “Improved monitoring systems and coordinated efforts contributed to the seamless execution of the exam,” added the source.Meanwhile, academicians said that the difficult level of this year’s NEET question paper is of moderate level. “It is easy when compared with last year’s question paper and a little diffult than 2024 paper. Students (general category) scoring 440 marks and above should be able to get a medical seat in Telangana,” said V Kumar, All India NEET coordinator, Sri Chaitanya Group of Institutions. As per students and their faculty, there was one ambiguous question in the zoology section, and two each in physics and chemistry are said to be tricky and time-consuming.
