Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation will launch a six-phase cleanliness drive from Aug 25 to Sept 7, deploying 4,455 sanitation workers to clear garbage hotspots and prevent the spread of seasonal diseases during the monsoon.The campaign, themed “Swachh Jaipur-Swasth Jaipur”, will target Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs), roadside waste, public spaces and construction and demolition (C&D) waste across the city. Anti-larval chemicals and insecticides will be sprayed where needed, while fogging will be undertaken to control mosquitoes.Additional sanitation workers will be mobilised from other zones to strengthen teams in the designated areas. The operations will be conducted from 7am to 3pm.The drive will cover Sanganer and Mansarovar on Aug 25; Jagatpura, Jhalana and Malviya Nagar on Aug 27; Vidyadhar Nagar and Murlipura on Sept 1; Jhotwara and Vaishali Nagar on Sept 3; Civil Lines on Sept 5; and Adarsh Nagar on Sept 7.Ahead of each phase, officials will identify GVPs and other locations where garbage has accumulated. Contractors have been directed to remove C&D waste within the stipulated timeframe.“Health inspectors will monitor the cleaning work at the ward level,” said officials. The corporation will also document the exercise through photographs and videos taken before and after the clean-up and submit reports on the work completed.The special campaign comes as the civic body seeks to intensify sanitation efforts during the monsoon, when garbage accumulation, waterlogging and mosquito breeding heighten the risk of vector-borne and other seasonal diseases.
