Hyderabad: Nalgonda police have taken half a dozen suspects into custody in connection with the murder of four members of a businessman’s family. Police suspect a property dispute may be the motive, and are interrogating the suspects to solve the case.On Monday night, the decomposed bodies of a couple, Md Sultan (45) and his wife Haseena (40), along with their two children, Muzammil (20) and Afsara (11), were found at their house in Telangana Colony in Nalgonda town. Sultan ran a bag shop in Nalgonda, while his wife worked as a teacher at a private school. Afsara was a class VII student at the same school, and Muzammil worked as an AC technician.Neighbours alerted the police after noticing a foul smell emanating from the locked house. Police broke open the main door and found the bodies lying on the floor in a decomposed state. The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination, during which forensic experts found multiple stab injuries on all four victims.“We believe the family was murdered on the intervening night of June 19 and 20. The victims had multiple injuries caused by a sharp weapon,” said an official involved in the investigation.Police have analysed call detail records and CCTV footage from locations near the house. Fingerprints have also been collected from the scene.During the preliminary investigation, police found that Muzammil and Afsara were Sultan’s children from his first marriage, while Haseena was his second wife. It was also found that Haseena had been married twice earlier and had a daughter from her first marriage, who is already married.Police further said Haseena owned properties, and there had been a dispute over their distribution between her and the family of her daughter from her first marriage. Investigators suspect the involvement of Haseena’s relatives, along with around four others from Hyderabad, who may have been hired to carry out the killings.“We have come to know that the family had property-related disputes. We have taken some suspects into custody and are interrogating them to solve the case,” said a senior Nalgonda police officer.
