Ahmedabad: Six hotels were sealed in the city on Tuesday, after the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) found fire safety violations on Tuesday night. The crackdown targeted establishments that failed to rectify critical safety lapses despite being served formal notices a week prior.The properties sealed for non-compliance are primarily located in the city’s western areas, including Hotel 4 Food, Hotel Royal Square, Apollo Hotel and Hotel Grand Inn within the Thaltej, Bodakdev, and Vastrapur wards. Additionally, Hotel Lake Inn on Gurukul Road in Vastrapur was also shuttered during the operation.According to AFES, the action was taken under the provisions of the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act. Despite repeated warnings and the expiration of the one-week deadline to address serious deficiencies in their fire safety infrastructure, the management of these hotels failed to complete the necessary corrective work.The department, in its press release, urged “all owners of hotels, commercial complexes, and public buildings to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations”.
