Jaipur: RIICO-run Special Economic Zones (SEZs) at Sitapura exported goods worth Rs 2,712 crore in the April-June quarter, signalling a strong recovery after high US tariffs forced a decline in FY26.If the pace holds, annual exports from the zones could surpass the earlier peak of Rs 10,000 crore. Jaipur’s Mahindra World City (MWC) also posted Rs 1,001.25 crore in exports during the quarter, putting it on course to exceed the Rs 3,700 crore recorded in FY26.In 2020–21, the two SEZs in Sitapura exported Rs 1,389.47 crore. Over the past five years through 2025–26, exports reached Rs 8,565.07 crore, growing at an average rate of nearly 44% each year.On the other hand, exports from Mahindra World City (MWC) in Jaipur grew at a steady average rate of 11% per year, rising from Rs 2,233.57 crore in 2020–21 to Rs 3,763.07 crore in 2025–26.Looking at last year’s annual figures shows how changing global trade rules affected each hub differently. Sitapura relies heavily on gems and jewellery and faced a major blow in 2025–26 when the US introduced a steep 50% tax on imports.As a result, Sitapura’s exports dropped nearly 17%, down from a record high of Rs 10,278.79 crore in 2024–25 to Rs 8,565.07 crore in 2025-26. However, the latest April–June figures show that its jewellery makers are recovering rapidly, putting the hub back on track to cross the Rs 10,000 crore mark this year.Meanwhile, MWC was mostly unaffected by the US tax hike because its businesses span multiple industries like IT, engineering, and handicrafts. Consequently, MWC grew steadily by over 9%, rising from Rs 3,443.37 crore in 2024–25 to Rs 3,763.07 crore in 2025–26.While Mahindra World City held on to the growth, the future of exports from the zone is uncertain as it seeks to denotify much of the SEZ area into domestic tariff area. Currently, its SEZ area covers 1,500 acres and domestic tariff area 1,000 acres.
