Singhania University to host third Asian Para Throwball Championship in March, 2027

Jaipur: The third Asian Para Throwball Championship will be held at Singhania University in Rajasthan from March 18 to 21, 2027. The World Para Throwball Federation has entrusted the Para Throwball Federation of India with the responsibility of organising the event in collaboration with the university.A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this important event was signed in Jaipur on May 1, 2026. Several prominent figures from the sports and administrative sectors attended the ceremony. The agreement was signed by Nirmala Rawat, president of the World Para Throwball Federation, Dr V Albert Premkumar, Dr Manoj Kumar (IAS, Retd.), and Sunil Kumar Sobti, pro-president and CFO of Singhania University. Singhania University has previously proven its capability by successfully hosting major sports events. The successful organization of the National Para Throwball Championship in February 2026 made it clear that the university has the necessary resources, infrastructure, and management capacity for an international-level sports event.According to the organisers, this 2027 championship will be a major milestone for para sports in Asia. Athletes from more than 21 countries will participate, including India, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and the Philippines. Participation at such a large scale will further elevate the level of competition. The presence of Indian para throwball team captain Prashant and international medallist Malti Inamati, along with several other international medal-winning athletes at the MoU ceremony, further highlighted the significance of the event. The athletes described this initiative as a major step forward in the development of para sports. Two students of the university, Arun and Nirmala from a village in Chirawa, Rajasthan will represent India in the upcoming 2nd Asian para throwball championship 2026 in Malaysia. The organising bodies believe this championship will not only give athletes a platform to showcase their talent but will also raise awareness about para sports in society. Additionally, it will boost sports tourism in Rajasthan and increase interest in sports among youth at the local level. This event is being considered a matter of pride for the state. In 2027, the city will become the hub for Asia’s para throwball athletes, showcasing a unique blend of sportsmanship, competition, and inclusivity.
