Chandigarh: Shuvam Devgan emerged as the frontrunner in the Punjab Youth Congress organisational elections, securing 1,60,154 votes and edging past his nearest rival, Gagandeep Singh, by a margin of 3,883 votes in the race for the state president’s post.According to the results announced on Monday, Gagandeep Singh polled 1,56,271 votes, while Karanvir Singh Dhillon finished third with 94,181 votes. A total of 4,68,614 votes were cast.Following formal approval and announcement by the party, Devgan is set to succeed Mohit Mohindra, who has been heading the Punjab Youth Congress since Aug 2023.Results for other office-bearer posts were also declared. Gurjot Singh secured the highest votes for the post of state general secretary (EC) with 39,568 votes, while Ravinder Singh topped the state secretary (EC) category with 2,744 votes.In category-wise vice-presidential elections, Paramvir Singh Dhadekatwal won the OBC category with 2,953 votes, Navtej Singh Amarkot topped the SC/ST category with 2,318 votes, and Arshad Khan Rana secured the minority category with 1,102 votes. Shivani Sharma emerged as the highest vote-getter in the open woman category with 2,125 votes.Rupinder Singh Bhullar won the physically handicapped category with 185 votes, while Manpreet Kaur topped the OBC woman category with 104 votes.
