Shopkeeper assaulted in Ghatlodia over old dispute

Ahmedabad: A 33-year-old shopkeeper was attacked in the Bhuyangdev area of Ghatlodia following an old shop-related dispute, police said. The incident occurred on April 10 around 4pm at the victim’s dairy shop near the Bhuyangdev Crossroads of the city.According to the complaint lodged by the shopkeeper, the complainant was present at his shop with a co-worker when two people reached the premises, while two other unidentified associates remained outside. The dispute was linked to a quarrel over another shop in the Ghatlodia area that reportedly continued over the past six months. The complainant said the accused entered the shop and abused him over going to another shop. When he objected to the abuse, the duo allegedly started assaulting him. “They attacked me together. One of them twisted my hand and another kicked me,” he said. He alleged that the two men standing outside also abused him. When the victim raised an alarm, people nearby gathered at the spot, after which the accused fled. The injured man was taken to Sola Civil Hospital after emergency services were called. During treatment, doctors reportedly detected a fracture close to his left elbow. After being discharged from the hospital, he approached police with his wife on Saturday and filed a complaint.
