Shooters kill two at Batala village, hurt 1

Chandigarh: Shooters killed two men and wounded a teenager during their evening walk in Batala area’s Bhoma village on Monday night.Kashmir Singh, 40, and local kabaddi player Jugraj Singh, 19, were ambushed on the village outskirts between 9 and 9.30pm. A third companion, 18-year-old Jugraj Singh, remains hospitalised with gunshot wounds.Batala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mehtab Singh Gill has stated that at least four shooters on motorcycles were involved in the killings. Investigators claim personal rivalry was the motive and Kashmir Singh, son of a former village head, the primary target.“The incident seems to have no extortion angle or link to any gang,” SSP Gill said, noting that the families had reported no prior threats. Kashmir Singh had a criminal record of drug peddling from 2021 and he got out of jail in 2023.
