Kolkata: A widowed senior citizen, living alone at Banerjepara in Sarsuna, alleged police inaction against a forged tenancy agreement and her tenant running a sex trade out of the ground floor of her house. She now plans to go to the Calcutta HC.The tenant had entered the house over four years ago as a caregiver for the owner’s terminally ill husband. After his death in March 2022, the caregiver allegedly refused to vacate the premises and occupied the ground floor. She even allegedly produced a 10-year forged tenancy agreement, dated March 3, 2022. The owner said her late husband’s signature was forged. She claimed her tenant, with the help of local goons, had been running a sex trade and human-trafficking operations from the premises. She alleged she saw young girls being brought to the house in cars late at night and heard them negotiating rates with clients. On Tuesday morning, on hearing a commotion, she went downstairs and allegedly found customers using abusive language in the presence of terrified underage girls. When she tried to intervene, the accused reportedly assaulted her, leading to a fall. The widow said she had lodged several complaints at Sarsuna PS since 2022 but to no avail. She said she obtained an order under CrPC Section 144(2) from the executive magistrate’s court in Alipore in May 2023.
