Varanasi: Police busted a sex racket on Sunday night after locals reported suspicious activity at a newly constructed building in Bhatuapura colony under Chitaipur police station area.Bhelupur ACP Gaurav Kumar said a team from Special Operation Group-2 and Chitaipur police first nabbed one woman and three men from a new house in Bhatuapura. During questioning, they revealed that more women involved in the trade were at a neighbouring guest house. Subsequently, cops raided the guest house and caught three other women and one man.The immoral trade was reportedly being operated through the collusion of both establishments for two and a half months.SOG-2 has been formed to crack down on crimes like sex racket, gambling and betting racketsPolice were already aware of the sex racket operators, who faced similar action in the past, ACP Gaurav Kumar said. Their criminal history will be checked to initiate action, including booking them under the Gangsters Act, he added. The role of the owner of the building, located next to a school, is also under investigation.Locals claimed this was the fourth such incident in the area and alleged that those running the sex racket enjoyed the patronage of influential people.
