Hyderabad: Senior advocates L Ravi Chander and S Sri Ram of the Telangana high court came to the aid of an engineering student who was on the verge of losing an academic year due to ₹60,000 in college fee dues.The petitioner, S Rochitha Sankar, a third-year student of MVSR Engineering College, said she was unable to pay her tuition fee after her father died on May 12, 2025, leaving the family in financial distress. As a result, the college removed her name from the examination registration portal.With the college not responding to her requests, she approached the court seeking relief. When she informed the court that she could pay only ₹20,000 at the moment and requested additional time to clear the dues, the two senior counsels present in court volunteered to pay the remaining amount.Recording their submission, Justice Juvvadi Sridevi directed the authorities concerned to treat the case as a special circumstance and allow her to appear for the examinations.The court further directed officials to immediately restore her name on the examination registration portal and permit her to appear for the ensuing end-of-semester examinations.Rochitha’s father passed away on May 12, 2025, leaving the family in financial distress. She stated that she had regularly paid her college fees up to the fifth semester but was unable to clear subsequent dues due to her circumstances.The petitioner alleged that the college removed her name from the examination portal on June 22, preventing her from submitting the examination application and appearing for the ongoing examinations. She also stated that despite repeated representations explaining her financial difficulties, no relief was granted.Moved by her situation, the senior counsels assured the court that they would pay the balance amount to enable her to continue her studies and sit for the examinations.
