Chandigarh: A 51-year-old scooterist was killed after being hit by an e-rickshaw in a hit-and-run incident near the Sector 27/28 light point on Saturday afternoon. Sector 26 police registered a case against an unidentified e-rickshaw driver and kept the victim’s body in the mortuary for postmortem. Police identified the deceased as Hanif Ahmad, a resident of Bapudham Colony in Sector 26, Chandigarh. He was riding his Activa scooter when the incident occurred. Police said a speeding e-rickshaw rammed into Ahmad’s scooter near the Sector 27/28 traffic light. The driver fled from the spot as Ahmad fell on the road, critically injured. Passers-by immediately informed the police. A police control room (PCR) vehicle rushed him to GMSH-16, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
