Shiva Kumar PinnaJS Bhupalpally: A worker of Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) sustained injuries in a blasting incident at the Kakatiya Khani (KTK)-5 underground coal mine in Bhupalpally on Monday. The injured worker was identified as Sriramula Pradeep, a short firer (explosives handler) employed at the mine.The incident reportedly occurred at the 13th level of the coal mine during blasting operations undertaken for coal production. An explosive charge reportedly detonated in Pradeep’s hand, causing severe injuries. Following the incident, his co-workers rushed him to the Bhupalpally Govt Hospital for treatment.Speaking to reporters, SCCL Bhupalpally general manager A Rajeshwar Reddy said that Pradeep sustained injuries to his left hand and was subsequently shifted to Hyderabad for advanced medical treatment.“We have initiated an inquiry into the incident. According to preliminary information, Pradeep was entering details into the system when the detonator he held in his left hand exploded unexpectedly. The blast occurred during the registration process. We are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident,” he said.
