Ahmedabad: The first round of admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for Class 1 in private primary schools across Gujarat will be declared on Monday. Nearly 83,000 seats reserved under the 25% RTE quota will be distributed among about 1.8 lakh eligible applicants. The allotment process will be carried out online by the office of the director of primary education, with parents being notified via their registered mobile numbers.This year, around 2.4 lakh applications were submitted during the window from April 4 to April 17, which was later extended to April 23. After scrutiny, 54,588 applications were rejected, while 2,034 were disqualified due to incomplete documentation. In total, 1,85,878 applications have been approved for the admission process. Students allotted seats in the first round will have to confirm admission by visiting their respective schools with the required documents. Subsequently, a second round will be conducted to fill the remaining vacant seats. Of the total seats, the largest share — over 41,000 — is in Gujarati medium schools, followed closely by about 40,000 seats in English medium institutions. Other mediums include Hindi (2,266 seats), Odia (144), Marathi (118), and Urdu (59), with Gujarati medium accounting for the highest number of seats and Urdu the lowest.
