Jaipur: Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) board has cleared a proposal to lease out four tourism properties on a pilot basis. The decision was taken at the board meeting held on July 29.Of the four properties selected, three are currently operational — Hotel Meenal in Alwar, Vinayak in Sawai Madhopur and Hotel Haveli in Fatehpur. Hotel Vrindawati in Bundi, the fourth property, has remained closed for a long time.Sources in RTDC said feasibility studies would now be conducted for all four properties, including assessments and valuations to determine the lease terms. “The reports will be submitted to the govt for directions. The leasing process will be taken up accordingly,” an official said. The official added that investors’ response to the pilot exercise would determine whether the leasing process is extended to other RTDC properties.RTDC had earlier identified around 35 of its 75 properties for leasing to private operators. However, the exercise initiated during the previous Congress govt was shelved after it emerged that ownership titles of several properties were not vested in the corporation. The move to bring private players into the operation of RTDC hotels has been under consideration for more than two decades but has failed to make any headway.Of RTDC’s 75 units, 27 are currently operational. While several units are earning profits, others have reduced their losses in recent years following investments in infrastructure and improved monitoring.Over the past four years, RTDC has invested around Rs 14 crore in 10 properties to upgrade facilities and make them more competitive with privately operated hotels. The corporation’s operational performance has also improved, with its units reporting a combined operational profit of over Rs 5 crore in 2024-25, which rose to around Rs 8 crore in 2025-26.
