Hyderabad: A 19-year-old student was killed after an RTC bus hit him while he was waiting at a bus stop in Chevella on Tuesday morning.The deceased was identified as Sheri Sathvik Reddy, a resident of Kandawada village.According to Chevella sub-inspector A Santosh Reddy, the accident occurred at around 7:30 am, when the RTC bus, belonging to the Tandur depot, allegedly lost control after the driver swerved to avoid a car that had suddenly come in its path. The bus veered off the road, struck Sathvik, and then crashed into a parked car.Sathvik, who was waiting for a bus to travel to Swaminarayan Gurukul School in Moinabad, sustained severe head and multiple injuries and died on the spot. The impact also caused extensive damage to the left side of the parked car.Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Sheri Krishna Reddy, the Chevella police registered a case against the RTC bus driver and launched an investigation. The body was shifted to the Chevella govt mortuary for postmortem examination.“We have, for now, booked the bus driver under Section 105 of the BNS. We will examine CCTV footage and, if necessary, alter the sections invoked or add more accused to the FIR based on the findings,” the SI told TOI.
