Ropeway project set for Nov completion
Divisional commissioner S Rajalingam inspects various project sites

Varanasi: Divisional commissioner S Rajalingam on Monday inspected the ongoing ropeway project at various locations in the city and reviewed the progress of construction work.During the inspection, Rajalingam took updates from officials and executing agencies on the project’s status and examined construction activities at different sites. Construction on Cantt Station-Rath Yatra stretch has been completed, while alignment checking is underway for stations beyond this section. Officials are making final preparations to complete the project by November.Rajalingam inspected the Godowlia and Girjaghar ropeway stations and reviewed safety arrangements, artwork, finishing work and progress at other stations. He directed officials to complete all pending works at Godowlia, Girjaghar and other stations at the earliest.He said the ropeway would play an important role in easing traffic congestion and strengthening Varanasi’s modern public transport system. He directed all agencies to expedite construction and ensure proper coordination.At Rath Yatra station, the commissioner reviewed ongoing construction and ordered officials to increase the pace of work. Boarding and deboarding facilities are being developed at Godowlia, while construction of the control room at Girjaghar is nearing completion.He also instructed officials to conduct regular site inspections, review progress and resolve any issues on priority. Varanasi Ropeway Project Director Pooja Mishra and other officials were present.
