Rohtak man assaulted over money dispute dies during treatment

Rohtak: A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with sticks and batons following a dispute over a monetary transaction in Nidana village of Rohtak district on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Mandeep, died during treatment at a private hospital late on Tuesday night.According to the police, Mandeep, had gone to the fields near the Samar-Gopalpur village canal on Tuesday evening. He allegedly had an ongoing dispute over money with two village residents, Lakshya and Hanny.The two accused allegedly attacked Mandeep with sticks and batons and fled from the spot, leaving him seriously injured. Mandeep’s brother Kuldeep said the injured man was taken to a private hospital for treatment. He died at around midnight while undergoing treatment. The police were informed following his death.Mandeep ran a mobile phone shop in Nidana village. According to the police, he had an old dispute with Lakshya and Hanny over money. Police said the attack appeared to have been carried out with the intention of killing him.Sadar police said they had received information about a man being assaulted and a police team was sent to the spot. However, the injured man later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police sent the body for postmortem examination and registered a case against the two accused on the complaint of Mandeep’s brother. Further investigation is underway.
