Kolkata: The state awarded RITES Ltd the techno-feasibility study for two proposed metro corridors of Durgapur-Asansol and Jalpaiguri-Siliguri, announced chief secretary Manoj Agarwal on Tuesday, adding the studies would assess the technical and financial viability of the two corridors before detailed project reports were prepared.Agarwal said the proposed metro projects would follow the prevailing funding pattern adopted for urban rail systems across the country. Under the model, the project cost will be shared by the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs and the state, similar to the financing structure followed for several recent metro projects, including the Delhi Metro.
